A Guide to a 3-Day Journey to Expo Shanghai 2010

The first thing you have to make sure is: when is Expo site open to visitors?
The Expo site is open from 9:00~24:00, altogether 15 hours, while the time when the exhibition areas stay open is from 9:30~22:30, 13 hours altogether. Visitors are not allowed to enter the Expo site after 21:00 and most exhibition pavilions after 21:30. If you wish to pay a visit during standard days (May 4th, 2010- Oct. 30th, 2010 and Oct. 8th, 2010-Oct. 24th, 2010) after 17:00 at night, you can buy the evening ticket at any gate. The night ticket is 90 RMB/person. Still, the curfew begins at 21:00. (Visitors are not allowed to enter the site after 21:00.)
You may wonder, what’s left to do during 9:00~9:30 and 22:30~24:00 when all the pavilions are closed? Actually, Expo has much more to offer than just exhibitions. Each day, there will be over 100 shows going on in the Expo site, among which the most dazzling shows are the opening and closing ceremonies at the beginning and end of each day. During the Expo duration (184 days), there will be National Pavilion Day organized by each country. The opening ceremonies for Expo site opening and National Pavilion Days will start at 9:00~9:30. Therefore, it’s better for you to arrive half an hour before the site opens its gates and catch the morning shows at 9:00 sharp.
Second question: how can I get to the Expo site?
The Expo site has an impeccable transportation network. There are 13 gates and in the site , 5 in Pudong, 3 in Puxi, 4 water entrances along the Huangpu River and one metro gate.
The land entrances are around Houtan and Yuanyi Road, Changqing Road, Yaohua Road; South Pudong Road, Yaohua Road, Shangnan Road; Yuntai Road, South Pudong Road; Bailianjing , Expo Avenue(Puming Road), and Yilin Road.
The land entrances in Puxi section are around Luban Road, East Longhua Road; South Xizang Road, South Zhongshan No.1 Road; Bansongyuan Road, Baotun Road and Wangda Road.
The entrances along the Huangpu River are called “ water gates “, which are located in Qichangzhan(for group visitors), Qinghuangdao Road(for group visitors), Shiliupu(for group visitors) and Dongchang Road(for individuals)
The metro gate is Madang Road in Line 13, which is located in the cross section of Madang Road and Xujiahui Road. Visitors who take Metro line 9 can interchange to Expo special line 13 at Madang Road and enter the enclosed area after safety inspection.
It is estimated that there will be five hundred (500) turnstiles stationed in Madang Road stop!
Well I was still beating around the bush. Next, I am gonna show you for real how you can get to Expo site using the transportation system in Shanghai.
Let’s start with the metro first. Line 6 and 7 have a shared stop at West Gaoke Road, where there is shuttle bus at the exit bound for the Expo site.
And then line 7. At the exit of Houtan stop of line 7, there is an Expo site gate. Changqing Road stop where you can interchange to line 13 which is still under construction is another Expo site entrance. At Yaohua Road stop, where you can interchange to line 8, there lies the starting point of the Expo axis and also the biggest gate of Expo site. From the exit of Yuntai Road, you can enter the Asian exhibition area. At west Gaoke Road, where you can also interchange to line 6, there is a shuttle bus taking you to the entrance at Bailianjing.
If you take line 8, you can interchange to line 4 at South Xizang Road stop. At the exit of South Xizang Road, there lies one of the biggest gates of Expo Puxi Section – South Xizang Road entrance. And if you get off at Yaohua Road stop where you can interchange to line 7, you will see the biggest gate of Expo Pudong Section – Shangnan gate.
Line 9, you can interchange to Expo special metro line 13 at Madang Road and get into the Expo site by line 13 directly after a safety inspection.
Line 13 is an Expo special line, which you can take for free with an Expo admission. During the Expo, there are only three stops open – Madang Road stop, Lupu Bridge Road stop and Expo Site stop. Madang Road, near Xujiahui Road, is the only metro entrance inside the enclosed area and equipped with about 500 turnstiles for safety inspection. While Lupu Bridge stop and Expo site stop are both located inside the enclosed area and serve to transport the visitors in-between Puxi and Pudong sections.
Visitors coming from Jinshan, Fengxian, Qingpu and Chongming can take the outer suburb shuttle bus to line 7, 8 or 9 and enter the Expo site by metro. The routes are as follows:
Chongming Ximen Bus Station→South Yanggao Road Station of line 7,
Qingpu Bus Station→Sheshan Station of line 9,
Shihua Bus Station→Aerospace Museum of line 8,
Zhujing Bus Station→Songjiang Transportation Center,
Fengxian Nanqiao→Jiangyue Road of line 8,
Fengxian Fengcheng→Aerospace Museum of line 8
Besides, there are almost 90 public transportation routes that can reach Expo site. The public transportation department will open major bus stop lines, including 17、18、36、43、45、65、66、82、89、96、253、610、614、733、802、806、869、871、910、Zhounan line and so on.
At each transportation hub, the public transportation department will set up 16 Expo special bus lines, taking passengers to Houtan, Shangnan Road and Bailianjing gates. The network of hubs includes North Square of Shanghai Railway Station, South Square of Shanghai South Railway Station(a different hub from the previous one), North Square of Shanghai South Railway Station, East Transportation Center of Hongqiao, West Transportation Center of Hongqiao, Changfeng district, Wenshui Road hub of new Gonghe Road, Shanghai Stadium, Xinzhuang hub, Shanghai International Circuit, Wujiaochang hub, Hongkou Football Stadium, Yuanshen Sports Center, Chuansha, Pudong International Airport and Huinan town.
If you are with the appointed Expo travelling agencies, there will be charted buses and provincial charted buses at all major travelling centers in Shanghai, Shanghai International Circuit taking you to the Expo site. The travelling agencies can also take boats to the site at Qichangzhan, Qinghuangdao Road and Shiliupu. While individual visitors can only use the water way at Dongchang Road. By the way, the shipping fee is not covered in the ticket.
Here, I’d like to remind you that if without permission, you can not drive through either in your private car or by taxi to the area extending from 500 meters to 1.5 mile outside the Expo site. There are 4000 Expo special taxis in the city allowed to enter the priority area after coordination. After 21:00, the auto restricted zone is open to all taxis.
By now, I believe you’ve had a rough idea of when and how to get in and out of the Expo site. Now it’s time to introduce to you the three-day Expo journey.
Day one
Arrive at Yaohua Road gate at 8:30. At the entry of the site, first make an appointment for visiting China Pavilion.
Individual visitors need to make appointments at the spot before entering any pavilion. But there is no such need if you are with a travelling agency. A hot pavilion like China Pavilion requires 100% appointment. So make appointments at the entry of the site in case you miss the chance. There are altogether 200 appointment machines for all the gates combined. You can consult the volunteers if you can’t find the machine. And there will also be volunteers next to the machine instructing you if needed. Carry your ID and ticket with you. After the appointment completes, you will get an appointment sheet. Keep it with you.
After appointment, you can embark on your joyous first-day journey now. Follow the Expo Axis and walk to the end, and you will find the Celebration Square, where there will be grand opening ceremony. After the ceremony, go to the Expo Center, where you can watch the National Pavilion Day opening ceremony. You might meet some national leaders or celebrities if you are lucky.
After the Expo Center, you can go to the Theme Pavilions. There are 4 pavilions: Urbanian Pavilion, Pavilion of City Being, Earth Pavilion and Public Participation Pavilion. Although the four pavilions are all in one building, you still need to line up for visiting each. You can choose the line with least people, which will save you a lot of time. I’d like to remind you that in principle, there are two visiting routes in each pavilion. One is fast route for visitors of brief stay; the other is slow route which I recommend you to take for visiting main pavilions and national pavilions.
The Life Sunshine Pavilion in Urbanian Pavilion is worth a visit. This is the first pavilion for disabled people in the history of Expo. All the volunteers and guides are disadvantaged people. In the “Heaven’s Eye” area, it is all pitch black, and the blind volunteers will guide you to “see” the China Pavilion, Bird Nest, Oriental Pearl Tower and other buildings by simply touching them. This will give you a feeling of how these blind people live in their world.
There is a globe in the Earth Pavilion. In the globe, there is a big dome theatre.
After the Theme Pavilions, it’s almost time for lunch. If you take the route as I suggested, you will find there is a Chinese Food Street in-between the Expo Center and Theme Pavilions. There you can find all kinds of specialties and all 8 Chinese cuisines from 31 provinces, cities, autonomous regions and municipalities in China. There will be free tastings. But it will also be crowed, so I would suggest you sit down and enjoy paid meals.
After lunch, you can go to the shows in the Culture Center, where you can also get air conditioning to fan away the heat of the day. There are two free shows brought to you by Oriental Song and Dance Company everyday. Check the show time before you go.
After the show, you can walk to China Pavilion from the Culture Center. You will see Taiwan Pavilion first, which looks very special; however the LED lights in the globe is an eye catcher. Its designer also designed the 101 building in Taipei.
It will be 13:30 at this point, time for China Pavilion. It will take you at least 45 minutes in line, 2 hours if you have bad luck, so prepare yourself. But the unique design of the Chinese national Pavilion will shade you from the sun, which is called “self-shading”. In the designing process, the designers have already taken the lining-up situation into account.
After entry, you can take the elevator, which will bring you first to the floor of 49 meters. There you will see a rim of transparent floor made of toughened glass like the one in Oriental Pearl Tower. Through the transparent floor you will see the waiting square under your feet from a crazy height of 49 meters. There will also be a fantastic movie directed by Lu Chuan, whose work you can’t miss. Besides, there is a painting of “Riverside Scene on the Pure Brightness Festival”. A hundred (100) meters wide! The people in the painting can move!
After the 49 meters high floor, you can go to the 41 meters high one. You will visit it in a sightseeing car. The line will again be long, but it’s worth it!
At last it is the 33 meters high floor, introducing to you the future Chinese low-carbon city. You can get an idea of what your future living environment is like.
After the Chinese National Pavilion, you can visit the provincial, municipal and autonomous region joint pavilion next to it. Each province, municipality and autonomous region has 600 squares meters of space, all with distinctive features. There are also Macau Pavilion and Hong Kong Pavilion, again with 600 Square meters in coverage but definitely worth to pay close attention to. Especially in the Macau Pavilion, you can lie on the ground of the top floor and watch movies on the ceiling.
After the China Pavilion, you can take a rest and then go eastward to visit Oman Pavilion, Pakistan Pavilion, Israel Pavilion and Sri Lanka Pavilion. If you need help to find the route, go to the volunteers. The first three are self-built pavilion. And the Sri Lanka Pavilion is rental pavilion.
Cross the Road, you will find the Nepal Pavilion, which stores the millennial buddhist relics. The India Pavilion is next to it. After that you will see the Saudi Arab Pavilion, with the biggest investment among all the foreign pavilions – 1.5 billion RMB! There is the biggest IMAX cinema in the world, much bigger that the one in Peace Cinema. This pavilion is highly recommended.
After the Saudi Arab Pavilion, you may go to the Asia Joint Pavilion for a brief stay and then go to Morocco Pavilion. It is a glass box with African exoticness. Turkmenistan Pavilion and Qatar Pavilion beside it are rental pavilions, you can go through them briefly. Next you will see the “Dune” – United Arab Emirates Pavilion. It is definitely worth to visit. After Expo, it will be dismantled, brought back home and reassembled again in Abu Dhabi. You can go to United Arab Emirates if you miss it this time.
It is almost evening now. You can take a break and have some refreshment. The running water in the Expo site is clean enough to drink. You will see a food store at five minutes interval.
In the evening, you can visit Lebanon Pavilion, Iran Pavilion, Democratic People's Republic of Korea Pavilion, Asian Joint Pavilion and Uzbekistan Pavilion. After that you are in the Kazakhstan Pavilion. It is a self-built pavilion, not big, but like all the other self-built pavilions, it is highly recommended.
Cross the Road, you will see two other pavilions – Japan Pavilion and Republic of Korea Pavilion. There are Vietnam Pavilion and Asia Joint Pavilions in-between them, where you can take a brief look. The night view around Japan Pavilion and Republic of Korea Pavilion is nice. They are close to Huangpu River, at the cross section of Expo Park and Bailianjing Park. To feel the breeze in summer night is such a sweet thing to do.
Walking along the Expo Avenue to the Culture Center, you will see the parades if you are lucky. If you don’t see any, don’t feel upset. Walk to the Celebration Square for the closing ceremony. All right, so much for day 1!
Day two
Again, arrive at the gate at 8:30. I recommend you to enter at the gate on Changqing Road. The first thing in the site again is making appointment. I recommend you to reserve for USA Pavilion, United Kingdom Pavilion, Belgium Pavilion, France Pavilion, and Swiss Pavilion in the afternoon or at night.
At the right hand of the Changqing gate is Thailand Pavilion. It is full of Thailand exoticness. Inside it, there is a green mascot “Atai”. You can take a photo with it. After the Thailand Pavilion, you will see a big iron building in front of it – Australian Pavilion. Australia attaches much importance to the Expo so it too is worth a visit. On the right hand of Australian Pavilion, there is Singapore Pavilion which is round like a music box. It is not big, with a garden on its top where you can sit for a break. There is music fountain in the square. Next to the Singapore Pavilion is the Malaysia Pavilion, a typical southeast Asia building. There is a stage inside, which displays dancings of 47 ethnic groups in Malaysia. There is also introduction to tourism cities. After that, you are at the New Zealand Pavilion. There is Haka dance outside it. Inside it is the breath-taking view of New Zealand landscape, which is designed by the same group that worked out the special effects for the movie “The Lord of the Rings “. Once out of the New Zealand Pavilion, search for the building with a lot of bamboos shooting out of the roof, and that is Indonesia Pavilion. Between the New Zealand Pavilion and Indonesian Pavilion, there is Cambodian Pavilion, which is a rental pavilion. After that, you can walk to the Joint Pavilion of International Organizations, Brunei Darussalam Pavilion and Philippines Pavilion. After this whole grand tour, you can sit at the leisure square and take a break and some refreshments.
Next you can go on to the overpass, walk to the direction of Huangpu River and descend when you see the blue UN Joint Pavilion, which is a must see. The MeteoWorld Pavilion is the most spectacular and also the only self-built pavilion by an international organization. With good weather, you can see a rainbow outside the Pavilion. Walk ahead and you’ll see a tent-like white pavilion – the Red Cross Pavilion. The light blue one next to it is Pacific Pavilion. Outside Pacific Pavilion, there is the Theme Square, where there will be shows. Walk to the direction of UN Pavilion, there are two rental pavilions – The World Trade Center Association (WTCA) Pavilion and International Development Information Network Association (DEVNET) Pavilion.
It is almost noon now. Enjoy your lunch and get yourself replenished because we are going to have a wonderful journey. Cross Changqing Road near the UN Pavilion, you will see a basket woven by wickers, which is the Spanish National Pavilion. It is highly recommended. Near the Leisure Square at the gate, there are Morocco Pavilion and Serbia Pavilion. They are rental Pavilions but still very nice pavilions. Morocco Pavilion has nice lighting inside and Serbia Pavilion has a time machine theme. On the other side of the Leisure Square is Belgium – EU Pavilion, which has free and delicious chocolate inside. If you are well prepared, you can take the quiz of “How much do you know about Europe?” There will be diamond drawing every Monday to Saturday and a drawing of a European trip every Sunday. Next to Belgium - EU Pavilion is Poland Pavilion which is in a paper-cutting pattern with a café on the roof. Next to it is the Swiss Pavilion whose bright spot is the cable car. Its IMAX screen can’t compete with that of the Saudi Arab Pavilion. However, its exterior curtain can glitter. Take a picture at it with your flash light on, and it can turn wind power, light power into electricity. Next to it is France Pavilion, which is home to many art treasures, including The Age of Bronze by Rodin. Besides there will be 2010 couples holding their wedding ceremonies there. Next to it is German Pavilion. Inside it there is a ball which sways when you make big noise at it. There are many other interactive devices that are definitely fun to play with. Keep an eye on your belongs in case of pick-pockets and enjoy yourself!
After the German Pavilion, you can make your way to the Ireland Pavilion and Norway Pavilion. Norway Pavilion, not big, is a tree structure with 15 model trees and a semi-transparent roof. Next to it is Ukraine Pavilion and Iceland Pavilion. Walking on, you will see the Sweden Pavilion and Denmark Pavilion. The bicycles in Denmark Pavilion are worth to experience. 500 bicycles are all equipped with front brakes only, and back brakes are achieved by peddling the bicycles backward. And also its national treasure - the Little Mermaid is a must see. Next to Denmark Pavilion is Finland Pavilion. Finland people also attach much importance on Expo with service and exhibits as good as all other north European countries. Facing the Denmark and Finland Pavilion are Latvia Pavilion and Estonia Pavilion.
After Finland Pavilion, you can go to the opposite side by the overpass and keep on visiting the rental pavilions - Portugal Pavilion, Slovakia Pavilion and Czech Pavilion. Czech Pavilion is nice too. Next to it is Europe Joint Pavilion I and Pavilion II, which hold Hungary Pavilion, Bosnia and Herzegovina Pavilion and White Russia Pavilion.
After Hungary Pavilion, there comes Caribbean Community Pavilion and Cuba Pavilion, which is followed by Venezuela Pavilion and then Chile Pavilion. Inside the Chile Pavilion, there is a well. You can take a photo there, because on the other side of the earth from where you are standing right now through the well on the ground is where Chile sits. And the well is made to symbolize a passage from here to there. Next to it is Mexico Pavilion where you can find kites shade on its roof. But the main body of the pavilion is underground and very cool. After that, you can go on to Canada Pavilion, where you can enjoy fantastic shows brought to you by the Sun circus. After that is Peru Pavilion, home to amazing food. Then there are Columbia Pavilion and Brazil Pavilion. If you go there in June, there will be broadcast and replay of the World Cup. Out of the Brazil Pavilion, you will see USA Pavilion, but wait a second, make a turn and go visit Joint Pavilion of Central and South American Countries first, which was revamped from the workshop of Shanghai No.3 Iron and Steel Factory, very charming Pavilion. And then you can go on to USA Pavilion, where there is a waterfall and big screen at the entrance. USA almost missed the Expo because of the financial problem. So it is definitely worth to visit since it finally made it. It has a 4D multi-media movie display with special effect of wind and rain.
It is almost time for dinner. There are restaurants around USA Pavilion and many other choices.
After USA Pavilion there comes an array of rental pavilions: Argentina Pavilion, Slovenia Pavilion, South Africa Pavilion, Egypt Pavilion, Tunisia Pavilion, Algeria Pavilion, Angola Pavilion, Nigeria Pavilion, Libya Pavilion, Lithuania Pavilion and Croatia Pavilion. After that, there comes Russia Pavilion, a fairytale world with 12 petal towers. Move on you will see a half cut green apple, and that is Romania Pavilion. Get in for a movie. Then there comes another array of self-built pavilions – Austria Pavilion, Holland Pavilion and Luxemburg Pavilion. Then you will see Italy Pavilion built with half transparent concrete. Next to it is the glamorous United Kingdom Pavilion. It is small but very stunning indeed. Thousands of beaming tentacles swing with the wind. You can imagine what a stunning picture it makes.
Let’s finish the day by the last stop – Africa Joint Pavilion. It has an African fair in it where you can buy some souvenir. Out of the Pavilion, you will see an amusement park covering 10 hectares. Not a lot of fun there though, when 2014 comes, you can go to Disneyland in Shanghai. Yonder, there is the only wetland park in the city center – Houtan Park, nice place for lovers, but you might get mosquito bites in summer.
Exit from Houtan gate, and you will see line 7. And that’s all for day 2.
Day 3
In the first two days, you’ve already covered most of the pavilions in Pudong Section. Many of you may think that Puxi Section is not as important, but if you know the history of Expo, you will find that corporate pavilions once played a very important role in Expos. Expo Shanghai 2010 prepared you a place called “Urban Best Practices Area” to display the efforts every country made in improving the quality of city life.
As usual, 8:30 ready at the gate. You can take line 8 and get off at south Xizang Road and you are at the biggest gate of Puxi Expo site.
The first building you see is the Jiangnan Shipyard Pavilion remodeled on old factory workshops. It is also called China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Pavilion. There you will learn the time-honored ship-building history of China. Also you will get a glimpse of the ship models including that of Zheng He. 400 years ago the precious ship of Zheng He in Ming dynasty was unmatched in the world. Columbus and Magellan were all late comers compared to him.
Out of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Pavilion and to the direction of Nanpu Bridge, you can go visit Private Enterprises Joint Pavilion where there are enterprises like Alibaba, Red Star Macalline and so on. And the Corporate Pavilion of Vanke follows. As the top Chinese property developer in China, it is loaded! The pavilion consisted of several gold straw houses and inside it you will see a projection of the Chinese cities in 2049. Next to it is Broad Pavilion. This is a company that makes air-conditioners. Its design is unique. The concept and design all reflected its theme - environmental protection. It took only one day to build this 8-floor pavilion with six times material conservation, five times of energy conservation, 100 % factory work and 1 % construction waste.
Afterwards move on to the Urban Best Practices Area. Leave other corporate pavilions to the afternoon. In the Urban Best Practices Area, Osaka Pavilion and Taipei Pavilion are very nice pavilions as well as Sao Paulo Case Pavilion of Brazil and Rotterdam Case Pavilion of Holland. After that you will see an overpass, take it and walk to south Zhongshan Road where you will find the most spectacular part in the Urban Best Practices Area – the north part building cases area.
Over there, you will find “Shanghai · Eco-Home”, telling you the innovations of modern living environment in Shanghai. And there is also a hundred-year old pawnshop from Macau called Tak Seng On. Up there is a Jinyong library where you can find your favorite martial art masters. If you are lucky, you might even bump into Jinyong at his book-signing fair. Besides these two places, Daming Palace in Xi’an and Ningbo Tengtou village are both nice cases. Talking of foreign cities, I recommend London- “Carbon Free” Pavilion, Hamburg- “Hamburg Home”, Makkah of Saudi Arab -“Tent City” and Madrid - “Bamboo House”. I forgot to mention that the Urban Best Practices Area” itself is an exhibit, all the lighting effects of which are designed from Lyon, France.
After this, you can walk to the south block by overpass again, where you will see a square called “Urban Square”. You can take shade under the tent there. The large tent there costs 2 million RMB each. In the center there is a stage. You can watch the human pyramid building from Barcelona. Under the chimney, there is the Pavilion of Future. You can visit it later in the afternoon. Now it is just time for lunch. The restaurant near the Pavilion of Future at the side of overpass is the biggest in Puxi Section.
The first stop in the afternoon is the Pavilion of Future, which is under the chimney. You might bump into me – Mr. Ni, again if you are lucky. In the Pavilion of Future, I will tell you what the future city life will be like and also the problems the cities are facing now as “the once future cities”. Pavilion of Future is very grand in size. So take your time and don’t get lost.
Afterwards, walk back to the corporate pavilion section. This time you are about to visit Space Pavilion, Information and Communication Pavilion and SAIC- GM Pavilion. The Space Pavilion looks like a white cloud. If you have never ridden in a plane, you can go up there and have an experience. Information and Communication Pavilion is jointly built by China Mobile and China Telecom. Take your cell phone with you and you will discover the truth of “limitless communication in an information era”. SAIC - GM Pavilion will take you on a ride of the city traffic in 2030.
After that, you can watch shows in the Exposition Square or have some fun over at the old dock of Jiangnan shipyard. Then move on to Aurora Pavilion, which is a must see for you if you are interested in collecting jade. If you are not, it is still good to get educated on Chinese jade culture. Outside Aurora Pavilion, there is China Railway Pavilion. Where there is a city, there is a railway. This pavilion is worth to visit if you are a travel lover. Next to the Railway Pavilion is Shanghai Corporate Joint Pavilion. It is very beautiful with Yu Qiuyu as its art director. The outer wall used discarded CD as its material. And it has many higho-tech elements inside, for example, the most advanced robot in the world – a robot also called “Haibao”. Next to the Shanghai Corporate Joint Pavilion is PICC (People’s Insurance Company of China) Pavilion. You can go there for a brief visit.
Next you can go to Jiangnan Park for a rest. At night you can go to Coca-Cola Pavilion. Just look for a big Coca Cola bottle and you will find it. After that go to the Space Home Pavilion, inside which exhibits the most advanced aviation technologies. Next you can go to the State Grid Pavilion. You need also to make an appointment before going there so that you can get in without lining up. There are interactive exhibits in the State Grid Pavilion and its design is quite fresh too. Outside of the State Grid Pavilion you will see the big screen of the China National Petroleum Corporation Pavilion. On the screen you’ll see what the Chinese petro industry has developed into now. Petro is power in today’s world! Near Huangpu River there is ROK Corporate Joint Pavilion where you can visit E-mart, Samsung, Hyundai and LG. You can take a photo as a souvenir because after Expo the building will be torn down and the materials will be turned into reusable bags and handed out to Shanghai citizens.
At last, you can go to the Expo Museum to get an overview of the 160-year long Expo history. Expo Museum and Entertainment Theatre is one building where you can watch shows there. After that, go on to the Pavilion of Footprint for a view of the city in the past. Next to Pavilion of Footprint is Japanese Industry Pavilion. Japan has always attached a lot of importance on Expos. It surely won’t let you down.
Afterwards, you can leave the site by the exit in Luban Road. At the exit, there is Lupu Bridge. You can pay 68 RMB for a bird view of the whole Expo site standing at the top of the bridge. For transportation, there is metro line 4 and bus lines such as No. 17, No.36 and No. 146 near Luban exit.
So this is my version of a 3-day journey to Expo. Again, make all the necessary appointments before hand. Wish you a nice trip! Have fun!
